Remember some people have been visiting nudist beaches for years, there is a certain etiquette to uphold, so for all you budding backpacker nudists out there here are a few tips on what not to do on a nude beach to make sure you know some unspoken nudist beach rules.

Q. “Can you have sex on nudist beaches?” A. – technically? Yes! But… Q. “Is it legal to have sex on nude beaches?” A. – extremely unlikely although if you’re on a private, very secluded beach then maybe.

Making Alexandria Bay a legal nude beach would first require change to Queensland law, then support of the local council.

State Noosa MP Sandy Bolton recently conducted community consultation among her constituents on the topic. She says 973 people responded to her two questions. Of those, 820 supported changing state laws to allow legal nude beaches and 798 backed A-bay being considered a legalised, clothing-optional beach.

The Queensland Naturist Association recently petitioned for Marcus Beach, not far from Alexandria Bay, to become a designated nude beach.
